As President of the Kansas City Museum, Ucko spearheaded
a decade-long process to expand an existing history
and science museum into a major science center within
a restored landmark. This $250+ million effort required
strategic planning at every stage, from vision and concept
through implementation and operation.
As Executive Director for a new museum for the National
Academy of Sciences, Ucko connected the strengths of
the organization with the needs of the field to develop
a strategic niche for outreach that only this new institution
could fill. Ucko has also developed exhibition and program
plans for the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago
and the California Museum of Science and Industry (California
Science Center) in Los Angeles.
